Sugaring

The ancient Egyptian hair removal method has since been modernized and is a great way to remove hair for sensitive skin types!

What is sugaring?

Sugaring is an ancient Egyptian hair removal method in which a paste made from sugar, water and lemon is used with a gloved hand in a flicking motion, to remove hair from any area of the body. This results in sparser hair & can lead to permanence when consistent over an extended amount of time.

What's the difference between sugaring and waxing?

Sugaring removes hair in the direction it grows in, waxing removes hair in the opposite direction of growth. Sugaring warms to your body temperature so it won't be hot to the touch, it can't burn you or lift your skin.

How long does my hair have to be to be sugared?

Your hair should be at least 1/2 inch long (Length of a grain of rice). Typically, the amount of growth after 2-3 weeks of shaving or 4 weeks since your last wax.

What does sugaring feel like?

Everyone's different when it comes to discomfort felt during sugaring. You can expect to feel a pinchy sensation with the sugar paste and some areas are more sensitive than others but, if you're concerned about pain, you can always consult your doctor about taking OTC meds before your appointment. We also only have to take as much hair as you want, so it's completely fine to not take as much off as orignally planned.

How long do sugaring results last?

Typically, after sugaring will keep you smooth for around two weeks. After the two-week time frame, your hairs will start to come back in slowly & sparse. Some areas won't grow back at all & you can expect to come back in for an appointment in a 4-6 week time frame depending on your hair growth cycle.

Can you sugar any body part?

Most areas of the body are able to be sugared! Here at SILK however, we specialize in bikini sugaring though we do offer full body sugaring as well!

Will sugaring irritate my skin?

After your first-time sugaring, you may experience slight redness due to your skin not being used to the treatment. For most guests, they don't experience any irritation because the sugar paste isn't hot and is removed in the direction of the hair growth. As you continue sugaring, your skin will adjust to the sensation and any irritation will be diminished.

Can I get sugared on my cycle?

Yes! You can get sugared while on your menstrual cycle, as long as you're wearing a tampon. Please keep in mind that your hormones fluctuating can affect your sensitivity & make you more uncomfortable during the service.

Do you offer sugaring services for all genders?

Currently I am not trained in male anatomy for bikini sugaring services, but all other services can be performed on all genders!
